A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Shannon Nagy Cazeau is serving concurrently as the Charge d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Luanda, Angola and the Charge d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy to Sao Tome and Principe. She has served in multiple assignments at U.S. embassies across Africa, including as Deputy Chief of Mission in Burkina Faso, Political and Economic Counselor in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and in Conakry, Guinea, and General Services Officer in Cotonou, Benin. She also served as the Director for Analysis of Africa in the State Department’s Bureau of Intelligence and Research, and at the United States Africa Command as the Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to the Director of the J5 Strategy, Programs, and Plans Directorate. Other assignments include the Philippines and Washington D.C.
Ms. Cazeau has a Master’s degree in Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Alaska in Fairbanks. She speaks Portuguese and French and has studied Russian and German. Ms. Cazeau is married and has two children.
