Cairo – December 24: U.S. Ambassador Herro Mustafa Garg met with Her Excellency Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation in the New Administrative Capital Sunday, December 21 to discuss the United States’ results-oriented approach to U.S. foreign assistance to Egypt under the America First Foreign Assistance framework.
Under President Trump’s leadership, the United States is modernizing its foreign assistance to ensure every dollar advances U.S national interests and delivers measurable outcomes for American taxpayers.  Ambassador Mustafa Garg underscored that U.S. assistance to Egypt is increasingly focused on supporting Egypt’s long-term economic sustainability while expanding opportunities for U.S. businesses and workers.
As part of this approach, the Trump Administration has recently committed more than $100 million in U.S. foreign assistance to support shared priorities, including private-sector-led growth, economic reform, and regional stability – areas where U.S. engagement delivers clear returns.
“Egypt and the United States share a longstanding strategic partnership rooted in mutual interests,” said Ambassador Mustafa Garg.  “We are sharpening our foreign assistance to be more focused, accountable, and catalytic – mobilizing private investment, encouraging burden-sharing, and delivering results that benefit both our nations.  Our assistance is not about spending more but about achieving more.”
Since 1978, the United States has provided more than $85 billion in assistance to Egypt, with a strong emphasis on advancing regional security, promoting economic growth, and supporting market-based reforms.  U.S. assistance has prioritized areas that strengthen stability, expand trade and investment, and support a capable security partnership.
