Required documentation can be found below and on state.gov (varies by applicant’s age, passport application used, and disposition of previous passport).
Age Progression Photos: If the identity of the applicant cannot be established by the photograph in the U.S. passport, pictures that show the progressive growth of the applicant should be submitted at the time of interview. Passports generally take about four weeks to arrive. You will be notified by email when your new passport arrives. Bring your old passport with you to pick up the new passport (unless the old passport is expired), so that we can cancel the old passport.
Processing times vary depending on demand. If you are traveling within the next four weeks, please see the Emergency Passports section.
Fees and payment methods for passport services
Passport application fees should be paid via the U.S. government’s secure payment site for both DS-82 and DS-11 applications. We do not accept other forms of payment. You must print the electronic payment confirmation you receive via email after successfully paying the fee and bring it with your application to the embassy the day of your appointment.

Current regulations reflect the long standing policy of the Department of State that no person should be in possession of more than one valid, or potentially valid, passport at any one time unless under circumstances specifically authorized by the Secretary of State.
Passport Applications for Minors must be signed in front of a Consular Officer at the Embassy. To visit the Embassy, one must make an appointment. The American Citizen Services Unit requests that you schedule one appointment for each person that needs a service.
For adult passport renewals you may either schedule an appointment online or renew passport by mail.
