CONSULAR OPERATING STATUS
The U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince is on Ordered Departure status. The reduction in staff impacts our ability to provide routine consular services. Nonimmigrant visa services are suspended until further notice. The U.S. Embassy in Nassau has been designated to conduct visa services for residents of Haiti. Applicants should review the U.S. Embassy in Nassau page for additional instructions. Applicants with appointments currently scheduled should reach out to the National Visa Center using the Public Inquiry Form to request or confirm an appointment.
PRESIDENTIAL PROCLAMATION
Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation 10998 on Restricting and Limiting the Entry of Foreign Nationals to Protect the Security of the United States, which took effect on January 1, 2026, the United States is suspending or limiting entry and visa issuance to nationals of 39 countries as well as individuals applying using travel documents issued or endorsed by the Palestinian Authority. Applicants who are subject to Presidential Proclamation 10998 may still submit visa applications and attend scheduled interviews, but they may be ineligible for visa issuance or admission to the United States. Emergency Appointment Requests
To request an emergency appointment, visit the U.S. Visa Information Service for Haiti website and follow the instructions to email a detailed request.
At this time, we can only accept NIV expedite appointments for life or death medical emergencies (with proof of travel plans) or to facilitate travel for a child with a confirmed appointment for a naturalization interview regarding a Form N-600K. We do not have the capacity to process expedite requests to facilitate evacuation by the Department.
Note: Receipt of an expedited appointment has no bearing on whether or not you are qualified for a visa. Your eligibility to receive a visa will be assessed and decided at the time of your interview.
