The Tomorrow’s Leaders Undergraduate (TLU) Program supports students in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region by providing undergraduate-level academic matriculation and leadership development. TLU is a leadership-training program that partners with leading U.S.-accredited universities in the MENA region to build a cadre of community, business, and national leaders who are civic-minded, intellectually able, and professionally skilled.
TLU targets students from around the region who are academically qualified but who are otherwise unable to afford American-style higher education. Students will enroll at the undergraduate level at one of the hosting institutions: the American University of Beirut (AUB) , the Lebanese American University (LAU) in Lebanon, and the American University in Cairo (AUC) in Egypt to build a dynamic network of future changemakers. In addition, each student has the opportunity to study abroad in the U.S. for one semester. Upon returning to their home countries, participants join a network of over 1900 program alumni serving as leaders across the MENA region.
The program covers the following:
- Full tuition coverage (for a maximum period of four academic years)
- Enrollment fees
- University housing (double room occupancy)
- University health insurance
- Entrance visa and residency permit fees
- Monthly living allowance (applicable during months actively participating in TL activities)
- A yearly book allowance
- Laptop for the duration of the program
- Two round-trip tickets from and to your home country per year, as applicable
- Opportunity for a study abroad semester in the U.S. (subject to maintaining a CGPA of 3.0 and above)
- Civic leadership and career-oriented workshops
- Internship opportunities
- Faculty mentorship and guidance
- Leadership Training
- Academic advising, mentoring services, and learning services
Who is Eligible?
To be eligible to apply for the TLU program, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a citizen/national of Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, Syria, Yemen, and Iraq, and West Bank and Gaza (including Palestinians residing outside of the West Bank and Gaza);
- Be a current high school senior or applicant who graduated from high school in 2026. Applicants from Iraq, Libya, Syria, West Bank/ Gaza, and Yemen who graduated high school in 2025 are also eligible.
- Demonstrate strong academic credentials;
- Demonstrate proficiency in written and spoken English with a minimum of 80 for the TOEFL iBT that is less than two years old of the program start date, required for university admission/enrollment;
- Exhibit maturity, flexibility and leadership potential;
- Maintain a high GPA and pass high school leaving exam in final year;
- Be able to start the program in August 2026;
- Demonstrate financial need. Applicants should be economically deserving students and should provide supporting financial documentation; and
- Students who qualify may be eligible for up to one year of intensive English Language training if needed.
Note: U.S. Citizens or U.S. Legal Permanent Residents are not eligible to apply.
