In accordance with United States Department of State worldwide regulations in place due to COVID-19 and in line with efforts by the Government of Kenya to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi has temporarily restricted some routine consular processing.
The processing time for routine passport renewals can be up to 6 weeks. If you are traveling within the next 2 weeks for a life-or-death emergency, please visit our Service navigator for further information.
All entrants to the U.S. Embassy must wear masks and are subject to body temperature screening and may be refused entry if displaying an elevated temperature.
No electronics are allowed in the U.S. Embassy.

If you are unsure which form you need, the Passport Wizard can guide you to the correct form. All forms must be completed using the form filler. Forms filled in by hand are no longer accepted.
Passport services are not available on weekends or on Kenya or U.S. holidays.
All passport application fees must be paid in advance via Pay.gov. In-person payment is no longer accepted.
You may bring someone else with you to your appointment (examples: an attorney, an interpreter, or a family member). The individual will be subject to standard security procedures and screening.

Please note, the consular section does not have translators available. If you have a routine service for a passport, consular report of birth abroad, or notary, it is your responsibility to bring an English translator with you to your appointment.
