
Benjamin “Ben” Chiang is currently Acting Deputy Chief of Mission at U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh.
In July 2023, he arrived in Cambodia to assume the position of Consular Chief. He previously served at U.S. Consulate General Ho Chi Minh City as a Visas Chief. Prior to that assignment, he worked as a consular manager in Beijing and Guangzhou.
Ben was the Information Officer in Sao Paulo and has worked on both the Brazil and India Desks in Washington, DC. His first tour was as a consular officer in Chengdu.
Before joining the Foreign Service, Ben worked in sales and marketing for a telecommunications firm. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s from Reed College. Ben is married with one daughter. He spent his childhood in Thailand and New York City.
