History

Welcome to the U.S. Embassy to Kazakhstan, located in Astana.

The embassy includes sections dealing with political/economic issues, consular affairs, administration, and security. Also represented are the Defense Attache Office, the Foreign Commercial Service, and Public Diplomacy Section.

The U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan was established in 1992 and moved to its current location — Rakhymzhan Koshkarbayev Avenue, No. 3.,  Astana 010010, Kazakhstan — in 2006.

The U.S. Embassy works with the Kazakhstani government on a wide range of bilateral and regional issues including, but not limited to, trade, commerce, democracy, humanitarian assistance, defense and the environment. The U.S. Embassy also provides services for American citizens in Kazakhstan via the American Citizen Services branch of the consular section and American businesses receive support from the Foreign Commercial Service.
