Keith Hanigan previously served as a Senior Advisor for the Bureau of Administration, leading high level, Department and Interagency wide initiatives for the Assistant Secretary and Undersecretary for Management.
A member of the Department’s Senior Foreign Service, Mr. Hanigan joined the Department in 1995. He has served eight overseas tours, including in Afghanistan, United Kingdom, Iraq, Austria, Brazil, Nicaragua, Guatemala and El Salvador. Throughout his career, Keith has been actively involved in welfare issues that support American families and Locally Employed Staff at post. He has served on school boards, housing boards, and employee associations.
Domestically, Mr. Hanigan served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Operations in the Bureau of Administration and as Director of the Office of Facility Management in the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations.
Keith received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Lafayette College. Before joining the Department, Keith worked for Turner Construction Company in Boston, for Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and in Solomon Islands as a Peace Corps Volunteer and private sector engineer.
