The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) enables most citizens or nationals of Lithuania and other participating countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa. Travelers must have a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) prior to travel and meet all requirements explained below.
If you prefer to have a visa in your passport, you may still apply for a visitor (B) visa.
Apply for an appropriate U.S. visa if:
- you have a different purpose of travel – studies or exchange program, temporary work, ship or airline crew, immigration, etc.;
- you don’t meet the requirements for travelling visa-free or your ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) application is denied.
U.S. citizens must use their U.S. passports to enter and depart the United States, regardless of any other nationalities they hold.
Basic requirements for applying for ESTA to travel without a visa:
1. You hold a valid Lithuanian citizen passport. issued after August 28, 2006 (Ccitizens of other VWP countries, can refer to the Department of State’s VWP Information page please refer to website https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/tourism-visit/visa-waiver-program.html for information on passport requirements);
2. You have NOT been refused a U.S. visa or admission to the United States in the past;
3. You have NOT violated the conditions of the VWP on your previous visits or been deported from the United States in the past;
4. You have NO criminal record;
5. You are NOT a U.S. citizen, and do NOT possess a valid or expired U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident Card, Form I-551;
6. You do NOT hold the nationality of, or have travel to, countries that would render you ineligible for ESTA, including:
a. Nationals of VWP countries who have traveled to or been present in Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, or Yemen on or after March 1, 2011 (with limited exceptions for travel for diplomatic or military purposes in the service of a VWP country).
b. Nationals of VWP countries who have traveled to or been present in Cuba on or after January 12, 2021 (with limited exceptions for travel for diplomatic or military purposes in the service of a VWP country).
c. Nationals of VWP countries who are also nationals of Cuba, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria.
7. Your purpose of travel is tourism, visiting friends/relatives, or business meetings;
8. You plan a short– term trip that does not exceed 90 days (a return ticket should be presented upon arrival);
9. You will enter the United States by air or sea aboard an approved carrier or at a land port of entry.

- All new ESTA applications are subject to an ESTA application fee payable by a credit card.
- All answers provided on your ESTA application have to be true and correct to the best of your knowledge. When misrepresentation is discovered (i.e., about prior criminal records, visa denials, deportation from the United States), an ESTA approval received may be overridden and denied. That could result in denial of admission to the United States at the port of entry.
