U.S. Embassy in Moldova

In February 2026, the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau launched Connect with U.S., a new nationwide program designed to introduce public school students across Moldova to U.S. history, American values, and the enduring partnership between the United States and Moldova as America celebrates 250 years of independence through the “Freedom 250” initiative.  Through interactive discussions, creative activities, and direct engagement with American diplomats, the program encourages students to explore leadership, civic participation, education, and cultural exchange.  Each school is presented with a set of educational resources from the United States, such as English language library books, games, and posters, as well as posters about American history.

The program’s first stop took place at Liceul Teoretic Doroțcaia in the village of Doroțcaia, Dubăsari district, where Cultural Attaché Joanne Kramb met with more than 80 students for a lively and engaging session.  Students asked thoughtful questions about the United States, reflected on their own responsibilities as future leaders in their communities, and presented creative posters demonstrating their knowledge of American history and culture.  Discussions also highlighted the life-changing impact of exchange opportunities such as the Future Leaders Exchange Program (FLEX), which continues to connect young Moldovans with educational experiences in the United States.

Connect with U.S. is only beginning its journey.  In the months ahead, the program will continue traveling across Moldova — one classroom at a time — bringing conversations about history, innovation, leadership, and partnership directly to students throughout the country.  Follow along as we share stories, photos, and highlights from each new visit and celebrate the growing connections between the people of the United States and Moldova.
