Description
The Rowan County Board of Commissioners appoints two of the five members to serve. Two members are also appointed by the Fire Department and the Commissioner of Insurance appoints one member. If a Chief for the department is not named as a Board of Trustees member, then he/she shall serve as an ex officio member.
Purpose
To oversee the Firefighters Relief Fund. Each fire department is eligible to receive funds from the State for the Relief Fund. The Board of Trustees manages the funds received and ensures that they are used properly.
