Five members appointed for two three-year terms by the Board of County Commissioners. Appointees must be a Rowan County resident and three of the five members must be actively engaged in farming. Individuals submitted by the Soil and Water Conservation District, Agricultural Extension Advisory Council, and the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service Committee shall be chosen as members. Generally meets every other month.

To review and approve applications for qualified farmland and voluntary agricultural districts and to recommend the establishment or modification of agricultural districts. The board encourages the voluntary preservation and protection of farmland and non-farm development, recognizing the importance of agriculture to the economic and cultural life of the County.
