Beginning January 2025, U.S. Embassy Lome can only accept online fee payments for passport applications. See below for fees and payment links.
New passport applications and passport renewals generally take four weeks.
Emergency passport applications can take up to two workdays to process. If you have a travel emergency, please email ConsularLome@state.gov and follow the instructions provided in the autoresponder email. Emergency passports are not processed on weekends, local holidays, nor U.S. federal holidays.
Steps to Apply for a U.S. Passport
Schedule an appointment for your interview. Bring all required documentation. If applying for the passport of a child (any age), the child must appear at the interview as well.
As of January 2025, U.S. Embassy Lome can no longer accept payment on-site for passport applications—online fee payments through Pay.gov are the only method of payment. Applicants may pay the appropriate fee online via U.S. or international credit or debit card or PayPal.
When paying the fee, at the end of the process the payment site allows you to enter additional email addresses to receive the payment receipt. For best results, enter this address: ACSLome@state.gov. In addition, print out the electronic payment confirmation you receive via email and bring it to the embassy with your application on the day of your appointment.

You must provide one photo on a white background with your passport application. Our photo policies apply to adults and children. We have a few exceptions to our photo policies for infants.
Please be aware that the rules for emergency passport issuance are strict, and a consular officer will determine if your situation meets the standard for an emergency. If your situation is not considered an emergency, you may be asked to book an online appointment and return to the embassy on that day. Emergency passports have the same fees as regular passports but have very limited validity. The passport will expire shortly after your urgent travel has been completed.
