American Spaces Tech Accelerator – OPEN
The U.S. Embassy Dushanbe’s Public Diplomacy Section (PDS) announces an open competition to implement the American Spaces Tech Accelerator (ATA) program for youth across eight American Spaces located in Bokhtar, Dushanbe, Gharm, Isfara, Khorugh, Khujand, Kulob, and Panjakent. The ATA aims to expand access for Tajik youth to American-designed, high-value technical training—particularly in emerging fields like artificial intelligence—to build a more competitive and innovative workforce that is prepared to expand Tajikistan’s collaboration with American companies and institutions.
Sharing American Tech Excellence in Tajikistan – CLOSED
The U.S. Department of State’s Embassy in Dushanbe, Tajikistan announces an open competition for applicants to compete to implement a project to promote American excellence in technology and foster a U.S.-friendly investment climate in Tajikistan. This could be achieved through a nationwide tech event, hackathon, trainings, or other engagements to increase the use of American technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), by Tajiks in key growth industries. The program should target participants who would increase demand for U.S. technologies in Tajikistan, such as entrepreneurs, those in banking, journalism, academia, etc.
Annual Program Statement – CLOSED
An Annual Program Statement (APS), also known as a “rolling program announcement,” is an open-ended, annual Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to help connect the United States with Tajikistan. Applications are received on a rolling basis and are periodically evaluated against the evaluation criteria and awarded. Awards will be contingent the availability of funds.
Academy of Women Entrepreneurs – CLOSED
The Academy of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) is a global program that was established by the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in 2019 to provide women with the knowledge, networks, and access to launch or scale successful businesses. By promoting women’s economic opportunities and ensuring that women have the capabilities and resources needed to participate in the economy, the AWE program directly supports the U.S. National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality.
Democracy Commission Small Grants Program – CLOSED
The U.S. Embassy’s Democracy Commission is designed to support civil society in addressing key social issues through a small grant program. Democracy Commission awards are open to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the private sector.
English Access Scholarship Program – CLOSED
Access is a two-year, in-country global scholarship program supported by the U.S. Department of State that provides a foundation of English language skills. The program targets ninth grade secondary school students from underprivileged families to participate in the program through after-school classes in Tajikistan with enhancement activities and intensive sessions.
English for Journalists Program – CLOSED
The U.S. Embassy Dushanbe Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Department of State is pleased to announce a call for proposals through the Embassy’s English for Journalists Program for 2025-2026. This is a one-year program with the possibility of a one-year extension. This program supports the development of Tajikistan’s media environment and digital journalism capabilities through English language learning. Applicants can be from accredited non-governmental schools, institutes, teacher training centers, universities, or organizations.
English Without Borders – CLOSED
English Without Borders (EWB) is a project implemented since 2021, providing support to English teachers across all regions in Tajikistan. This year PDS seeks to consolidate some English Language Programs under one umbrella—namely continuing EWB networking-type activities, but also providing more targeted support for secondary school (high school) English teachers to use modern teaching methods as well as the new English language textbook. EWB unites English language teachers and students at all levels, supporting them through peer-to-peer networking, the development of pedagogical materials, online and in-person training sessions, and train-the-trainer programs. These online and in-person activities develop teachers’ capacity to employ modern, student-centric methodologies and design supplementary materials.
American Spaces Grants – CLOSED
American Spaces are the premier public diplomacy platform of the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan. Eight American Spaces located in Bokhtar, Dushanbe, Gharm, Isfara, Khorugh, Khujand, Kulob, and Panjakent have been strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between the people of Tajikistan and the United States of America for almost 21 years. The American Spaces offer English resources and development opportunities while also serving as gateways for Tajik citizens to learn about American society, culture, and education. The American Spaces offer regular English-language activities, such as conversation groups with native speakers, workshops with visiting specialists, and regular presentations by Americans on U.S. life and culture.
Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation – CLOSED
Established by Congress in the fall of 2000, the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) awards grants for the preservation of cultural sites, cultural objects and collections, and forms of traditional cultural expression, such as music, dance, and language in more than 130 countries around the world. Administered by the Cultural Heritage Center, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State, the AFCP offers the United States a meaningful opportunity to show its respect for the cultural heritage of other countries. Since 2001, the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation has funded 17 projects in Tajikistan totaling $806,424.
Alumni Grants Program – CLOSED
The U.S. Embassy’s Public Diplomacy Section (PDS) offers a number of initiatives to support USG exchange alumni outreach in Tajikistan. PDS currently offers small alumni grants through the U.S. Alumni Network of Tajikistan (USANT), implemented by American Councils. These alumni grants support alumni-initiated projects aimed at promoting community service and the dissemination of professional knowledge. USANT also issues a quarterly alumni newsletter which spotlights alumni success stories, shares information on alumni-initiated activities and events, and strengthens the network of all U.S. government exchange program alumni in Tajikistan.
Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund – CLOSED
The State Department-funded Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) provides alumni of U.S. government-sponsored and facilitated exchange programs with funding to expand on skills gained during their exchange experience to design and implement innovative solutions to global challenges facing their communities. Since its inception in 2011, AEIF has funded nearly 500 alumni-led projects around the world through a competitive global competition. This year, AEIF 2024 will support the United States’ commitment to strengthening the foundations for sustainable development to improve economic outcomes and build human capital, and strengthening relationships and deepen trust between Tajikistan and the United States to advance strategic engagement.
