Courtney Beale is the Deputy Chief of Mission for the U.S. Mission in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. A member of the Senior Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State, she previously served as the Executive Assistant to the Secretary of State, Principal Officer at the U.S. Consulate General in Merida, Mexico, and the Senior Director of the Global Engagement Office and Special Assistant to the President at the National Security Council. Courtney’s other overseas diplomatic assignments include Havana, Cuba; Monterrey, Mexico; Islamabad, Pakistan; Bogota, Colombia; and New Delhi, India.

Courtney graduated with a Masters in Public Policy from Princeton University and a Bachelors of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. She speaks Vietnamese, Spanish, Hindi, and Urdu. Courtney is a proud Midwesterner from St. Louis and enjoys triathlons and spending time outdoors with her husband and two sons.
