Accessibility Commitment
The City of New York is committed to ensuring that all of our digital content can be accessed by New Yorkers with disabilities. To reach that goal, Local Law 26 of 2016 was passed which requires City agencies to make a reasonable effort to make their websites accessible.

New York City's Digital Accessibility Coordinator leads the effort to write the Digital Accessibility Reports mandated by Local Law 26, with five reports available on our Reports and Publications page. As of December 2025, the City of New York adopted the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA standard, along with the five exceptions in the DOJ's final rule on Title II website accessibility.
The Digital Accessibility Coordinator, based at the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities, works towards these goals by training agencies to audit websites and providing guidance to NYC agencies on how to make their digital content more accessible. In addition, the Digital Accessibility Coordinator conducts trainings and organizes educational events for City employees and the public to learn more about creating accessible digital content.
