Wildfires and poor air quality continue for the Pacific Northwest, Rockies and extended into the Plains. Severe thunderstorms possible for the northern Plains and upper Midwest on Monday along a frontal boundary. Temperatures will push into the triple digits for many valleys west of the Cascades near the California and Oregon border. Warmer overnight lows and hot afternoon temperatures for multiple days will bring us moderate heat risk. We're also forecasting a record high of 106 in Medford on Wednesday August 5th.

Here is the latest high temperature forecast for locations in our area. This heatwave will challenge a high temperature record here in Medford on August 6th. Still cooler near the coast compared to areas inland.

Smoke, from wildfires burning to the north, will move into the region late tonight and spread across the area through Tuesday. This will likely bring periods of reduced air quality through mid-week. Pending new fire starts, smoke could improve Wednesday onward. Monitor air quality conditions at fire.airnow.gov and avoid going outdoors during periods of lowered air quality.
