AUSTRIAN STUDENTS MEET AMERICAN DIPLOMATS

MeetUS is a U.S. Embassy Vienna program that offers your students (approx. 15-19 years old) the opportunity to meet American diplomats and speak with them about life in the United States.

Programs can take place at your school, at our Amerika Haus in Vienna, or virtually. We welcome classes from all Austrian schools, in- and outside of Vienna.

Discussions are in English, and diplomats usually hold a 10-15 minute presentation followed by a Q&A session (approx. 45 minutes). Each session includes information on studying in the United States.

Participation in this program is free.

Presentations are offered on (1) the U.S. Embassy and the U.S.-Austria relationship or (2) Freedom 250.

          (1) U.S. Embassy Vienna and the U.S.-Austria relationship

This presentation provides an overview of the U.S. Embassy in Vienna, the U.S.-Austria relationship, and the work of a diplomat. Your students will gain insights into what the Embassy does and learn about Vienna’s unique status as host to three U.S. missions. The presentation also explores the Embassy’s various activities, including cultural, educational, economic, and security initiatives, which reflect the depth and strength of the partnership between the United States and Austria.

          (2) “Freedom 250”

Throughout the 2025/26 academic year, a special edition of the MeetUS program will be offered under the theme “Freedom 250,” highlighting the most important American achievements and milestones over the past 250 years. This special focus is part of the lead-up to the United States’ 250th anniversary celebrations on July 4, 2026. During the presentation, your students will gain unique insights into the history, culture, and innovations that have shaped the United States, fostering a deeper understanding of the country’s journey and its global impact.
