Starting January 21, 2026, nationals of Bangladesh who are found otherwise eligible for a B1/B2 visa must post a bond of up to $15,000. At the time of the interview, the consular officer will inform the applicant whether they are eligible for a visa and will provide instructions on how to pay this bond. Applicants must not use any third-party website for posting the bond, nor pay a bond before instructed to do so by a consular officer. B1/B2 visas for nationals of Bangladesh cannot be issued until the bond has been paid. This requirement applies regardless of place of application.

Starting May 1, 2025, all visa applicants must bring a DS-160 visa application form with a confirmation/barcode number (starting with AA) that matches the one used to make their appointment online. If you appear at your appointment and the DS-160 barcode does not match the one in your appointment profile, you will not be able to attend your interview.
In order to increase the number of visa appointments, all nonimmigrant visa applicants are required to complete and submit their DS-160 visa applications online and update their profiles at www.ustraveldocs.com/bd/en more than 7 calendar days before the visa interview date. Submissions within 7 days before the interview date will not be accepted.

Nonimmigrant visas are for international travelers coming to the United States temporarily. The visa, placed in your passport when issued, allows you to travel to a port of entry and request the permission of the Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection immigration officer to enter the United States. A visa does not guarantee entry. International travelers come to the United States for a wide variety of reasons, including tourism, business, medical treatment, and certain types of temporary work.
