Notice to applicants

All applicants must create an ERA profile and submit their complete application through ERA for each vacancy of their interest.

A complete application means that your ERA profile outlines how you meet the minimum qualifications as listed in the vacancy announcement (education, experience and language proficiency), and contains the required attachments.

  • Do not wait until the last minute to submit your application.

Due to regular system updates, ERA may undergo unforeseen maintenance outages at any time. In anticipation of the outages, the human resources office advises all applicants to submit applications as early as possible and not wait until the closing date of the vacancy. Applicants can log in and make changes to their applications online before the actual deadline. It is not possible to update or submit an application after the closing date.

  • Information in your ERA profile matters.

Resume and cover letter are not required documents and will not be considered in the recruitment process. Instead, applicants must complete the ERA application profile thoroughly to capture all information they would like for the recruiters to consider. Applicants must outline the accurate and relevant education, experience and language proficiency. ERA saves these updates for applicants, so if you are planning to submit your application for multiple vacancies, you do not have to start from scratch each time.

  • Not providing the required attachments would disqualify your application.

Each vacancy outlines a list of mandatory attachments for all applicants and for preference applicants. Always make sure that you cross-reference the list and provide all documents as required.

  • Diploma recognition process.

According to the Belgian standards, you may need to follow a process to have your diploma recognized. Your diploma is automatically recognized if you obtained it in the U.S., Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, or an educational establishment awarded by the European University Institute Firenze. In case you obtained your diploma from a different country, you need a professional recognition that can be done via cfwb (recognition process in French) or via naric (recognition process in Dutch). Should you have questions regarding the recognition procedure, please contact cfwb  or naric directly.
