Ambassador Lucy Tamlyn presented her credentials to H.E. President Felix Tshisekedi on February 6, 2023. Ambassador Tamlyn joined the diplomatic service in 1982 and is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of Minister Counselor. Prior to arriving in Kinshasa, she served as Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum, Sudan. Ambassador Tamlyn previously served as United States Ambassador to the Central African Republic 2019-2022 and United States Ambassador to the Republic of Benin 2015-2018.

Ambassador Tamlyn earned a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland, and a master’s degree from Columbia University School of International Affairs.
