Overview

Notary Services at U.S. Embassy Bern, Consular Agency Zurich or Consular Agency Geneva are available by appointment only. We do not provide notary services on an emergency or walk-in basis and you must come with all documents properly prepared for the notary to sign.

Notarial services are available for all nationalities. If you have multiple documents to be notarized, you should only make one appointment. The notarial service fee of $50 USD per seal must be paid via pay.gov at the time of your appointment.

On the day of your appointment, you must:

• Bring the complete, unsigned documents to be notarized. Even if there are pages that do not require signature or seals, you must present the entire packet.
• Present a valid government-issued ID, such as a passport or driver’s license. The name on the documents must match the name on your ID.
• Pay $50 USD per notary seal. Bring your cell phone with you to the Embassy or Consular Agency to make the payment.
• Be of sound mind and understand the document you want notarized. Consular staff is not permitted to explain contents to you.
• If your notary service requires a witness, you must arrange for your own witnesses. Consular staff cannot witness your documents.

Note on Payment of Fees for Notarial Service:

All customers must pay the notarial fee ($50 USD per seal) via the pay.gov website at the time of the notarial service.  Consular staff will email you payment instructions after calculating the requisite fee.  Bring your cell phone with you into the Embassy or Consular Agency to make the payment.  Only make your payment following the instructions from consular staff at the time of your notarial service appointment
