
Catherine Rodriguez, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, is the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She brings more than 20 years of diplomatic experience in leadership, management, and policy roles across Africa, South Asia, and the Western Hemisphere.
She previously served as Senior Bureau Official in the Bureau of Global Talent Management, Deputy Chief of Mission and long-term Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Liberia, and Consul General in Lahore, Pakistan. Her assignments in Washington include senior roles in the Bureaus of South and Central Asian Affairs and Near Eastern Affairs, as well as Chief of Staff to the Director General of the Foreign Service and Acting Under Secretary for Management.
A native of Miami and the daughter of Cuban refugees, Ms. Rodriguez is a fluent Spanish speaker. She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in business from Florida International University and a graduate degree from Columbia University. Before joining the Service, she helped manage a successful family business.
