WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Shomari C. Figures (AL-02) announced that he secured a provision in the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2026 authorizing $50 million in federal funding to address critical water and wastewater infrastructure across the Second Congressional District. The bill passed the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee today and will now advance to the House floor for a vote.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representatives Shomari Figures (D-AL) and Dave Taylor (R-OH) introduced a bipartisan House resolution expressing support for the designation of May 31 through June 6, 2026, as “Our Roads, Our Safety Week.” Members of the Congressional Trucking Caucus joined Figures and Taylor in the introduction of this resolution, including Representatives Mike Bost (R-IL), Dina Titus (D-NV), Harriet Hageman (R-WY), Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), Jefferson Shreve (R-IN), Addison McDowell (R-NC), and Mary Miller (R-IL).

WASHINGTON — Today, Representatives Shomari C. Figures (AL-02) and Jefferson Shreve (IN-06) introduced the Rural Animal Shelter Investment Act, bipartisan legislation to help rural animal shelters access existing federal funding to build, expand, or improve their facilities. 

Animal shelters play an important role in rural communities. They rescue and care for animals, support public health, and often fill gaps where veterinary services are limited.
