The United States Embassy in Suva is pleased to advise that applications for the Fulbright Foreign Student Program Scholarships for academic year 2027-2028 opened on February 2, 2026.
The United States Embassy in Suva is pleased to invite applications from resident nationals of Fiji, Kiribati, Naoero, and Tuvalu for the Fulbright Foreign Student Program Scholarships for academic year 2027-2028.
The Fulbright Foreign Student Program enables promising graduate students to undertake graduate study and/or research at U.S. universities or institutions. Successful candidates will receive up to two years of graduate-level study at some of the finest higher learning institutions in the United States. Applications are open to individuals interested in pursuing a master’s degree and/or research at U.S.-based academic institutions in the following fields:
- Communications/Journalism
- Economic Development/Finance and Banking
- Educational Administration, Planning and Policy
- Epidemiology and Infectious Disease Control
- Law and Policy
- Natural Resources/Environmental Policy
- Public Health Policy and Management
- Public Policy and Public Administration
- Trafficking in Persons, Policy and Prevention
- International Relations
- Ocean Policy
- Security Cooperation
In order to participate in the program, applicants must have completed their undergraduate education and hold a bachelor’s or equivalent degree. Applicants must submit two application essays—a Personal Statement and Study/Research Objectives that clearly outline their goals, explain why a specific academic track is the best fit, and link their academic plans to longer-term professional objectives. In addition, applicants are required to provide three letters of recommendation from professors and/or employers, with two letters from professors and one from an employer.
Applicants are not required to take any standardized tests in order to submit an application. Scholarship finalists and alternate candidates will receive test vouchers from the United States.
