The Social Security Administration’s Federal Benefits Unit (FBU) at U.S. Embassy Manila handles all social security issues for residents of the FSM. U.S. Embassy Kolonia is only able to assist with social security issues at FBU’s request. For all social security questions and applications, please email FBU.Manila@ssa.gov.

The U.S. Embassy in Micronesia is offering emergency appointments only for passport and citizenship services that require an in-person appearance. Please be aware that emergency appointment availability is extremely limited.

American citizens seeking passport or Consular Report of Birth Abroad services can make an appointment via our online appointment system. They may be accompanied by interpreters/translators, family members, caregivers, and/or attorneys. American citizens may still come to the embassy during normal business hours for emergency service or contact us after-hours on the duty phone listed below. We encourage American citizens to routinely monitor the current Travel Warnings and Travel Alerts, and the Worldwide Caution on State Department’s website, review the Country Specific Information for Micronesia.

U.S. citizens are our top priority.  We urge you to sign up with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).

The American Citizen Services Section does not handle visa inquires that U.S. citizens may have regarding non-U.S. citizen relatives or friends.

ANNOUNCEMENT: U.S. Embassy Kolonia is accepting online fee payments for adult U.S. passport renewal applications.  Paying online allows you to mail your application to the U.S. Embassy without the need to apply in person.  Please see our Passport Information page to determine if you are eligible for online fee payment.

Passports are produced at a domestic U.S. passport facility and mailed to U.S. Embassy Kolonia.  U.S. citizens are encouraged to apply early for renewal of expiring passports.
