Fall is rapidly approaching and with it come pumpkins and all the fun of Halloween!

This year’s city event, Trail of Treats, will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026 from 5pm to 7pm. And at a new location, the “Haunted Trail” at Harrington Parks & Recreation! The address is 114 E. Liberty St in Harrington.

So we need our local businesses, non-profits and groups to join us and help make our trail spooky! If you are interested, please contact City at at 302-398-3530 or email us, eo****@****************re.gov. Then choose your spooky decorations, bring a 10X10 tent or just a table to decorate, and oh lots of goodies to give away to our ghost and goblins! There will be plenty of electric if you need it to power all those spooky decorations!

The event is rain or shine, we will just move inside! Make your plans today to participate and then join us for a fun night!

The City of Harrington’s Annual City-Wide Yard Sale is coming up on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Last evening at our City Council Meeting, the City of Harrington proudly hosted the swearing-in ceremony of Chief of Police Joseph Perna.

The evening was filled with recognition and appreciation for Chief Perna’s dedicated to public service. Vice Mayor Darrin Simpson presented a tribute on behalf of Mayor Frank Tolson and City Council, honoring Chief Perna’s commitment to the Harrington community.

Chief Perna was also presented with the Department Commendation Award by the Harrington Police Department. Additional recognitions included a proclamation from the Office of the Governor, read by Police Resource Manager Jenn Anderson; a tribute from the Delaware House of Representatives, presented by Lieutenant L.B. Stubbs; and a proclamation presented by Kent County Levy Court President Commissioner Joanne Masten and Vice President Commissioner Robert Scott.

We extend our sincere congratulations to Chief Joe Perna and wish him continued success as he leads the Harrington Police Department. Thank you to all who attended and helped make this special occasion a memorable one.

At the April 20, 2026 City Council Meeting, Mayor Frank Tolson presented Dave Scott with Employee of the Quarter! Dave, we appreciate all of your hard work and dedicated to the City of Harrington.

At the April 20, 2026 City Council Meeting, Mayor Frank Tolson proclaimed the week of April 19th-25th as National Library Week in the City of Harrington. National Library Week celebrates the vital role libraries, librarians, and workers play in transforming lives and strengthening communities. Thank you to all our wonderful staff and volunteers at the Harrington Public Library.

The Delaware Police Officer Standards and Training Commission (POST) is proud to announce that the Harrington Police Department has officially earned state accreditation from the Delaware Police Accreditation Commission (DPAC). As part of the rigorous process, a team of DPAC assessors ensured all accreditation standards were met by completing comprehensive on-site inspections of the agency, reviewing their policies and procedures for compliance, and conducting interviews with department members. Accreditation is a major achievement that reflects their commitment to professionalism, accountability, and excellence in service.

This recognition doesn’t happen overnight. It’s the result of hard work, high standards, and a dedication to keeping Harrington safe every single day.
