Connecticut officials said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have carried out several targeted operations in recent weeks at Bradley International Airport, stopping travelers after they pass through airport security screening areas.

Federal immigration officers have been active at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, state officials said Friday.

Agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement have been carrying out enforcement activity past the airport security checkpoints at Bradley, according to spokesperson Cathryn Vaulman with Gov. Ned Lamont’s office.

The Connecticut Airport Authority said Friday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers recently conducted several targeted operations at Bradley International Airport.

CAA officials say the federal agents wore plain clothes and were not readily identifiable as ICE agents. CAA says its staff did not help with the operations and only became aware of them after the fact.

Officials add that the CAA has no authority to intervene or prevent these operations, which mostly happen in areas under the control of the federal government.

Up to 100 Haitian caregivers working across Connecticut could lose their jobs at skilled nursing facilities as early as Monday if their Temporary Protected Status expires, according to officials from the Connecticut Association of Health Care Facilities and the Connecticut Center for Assisted Living.
