The NOAA Library launched a new interlibrary loan workflow for NOAA staff (federal employees and contractors) for requesting resources on December 5th.
Rapido, is a library resource sharing system, which will allow NOAA staff to place requests from within our Library Discover platform. This will replace our current interlibrary loan Google form.
Once the above steps are complete, there are two primary ways of requesting items through Rapido:
A form where you select a bibliographic record from your research results:
When you locate the resource of your interest in a search, click on it to open the record and access the Rapido tiles to request the resource, whether digitally or physically. (You must be logged in via SSO to see this.)

A free form where you enter in the metadata for the resource you are looking for (digital or physical).
This form is primarily used when you can’t find a search result and will appear at the very top of the search page.

On occasion, 'Get it for me from other libraries' will be displayed under a search result. This means that none of the libraries in the NOAA Library network had a copy but is available through Rapido.
Use the notes/comments fields in the ILL forms to enter your address for physical item shipping.
Once your request is submitted you will receive two emails:
If you delete the email or can't find it, please login in to your Library Discover account and find it under "My Requests".
When using Rapido you will be prompted to sign in using Single-Sign On to submit a request. This will alert the Rapido sharing system and requested items should arrive seamlessly to you without further steps - within 24 hours for digital material and up to two weeks for physical, depending on the delivery service used. You will be prompted again to use SSO to download your article.
As we all learn to use this new system please ask questions, test the limits, and keep the conversation going. Our goal is to get your hands on the latest, most relevant research no matter where it comes from.
