Loss of U.S. citizenship is a serious and irrevocable act which deserves your thoughtful consideration. It is imperative that you fully understand the nature of its consequences prior to requesting a Certificate of Loss of Nationality. Remember that expatriation can never be exercised by another person, including parents and/or legal guardians.
If you wish to apply for Certificate of Loss of Nationality you will be required to attend an appointment in person with a consular officer in Mexico city. At the time of your appointment, a consular officer will interview you and, if necessary, administer the Oath of Renunciation and forward your application to the Department of State for review. This process may take several months to complete.
