GPM and Partner Data Archive Information
All new users must complete a simple registration process by providing an email address and optional contact and "area of interest" information. Click below to register and please follow the instructions:
http://registration.pps.eosdis.nasa.gov/registration/
Completion of this step will allow access to the PPS data archive, STORM and optional GPM near realtime (NRT) data access if you indicate NRT data access during registration.
New users may find the following document "Introduction to PPS Data Products" helpful for choosing suitable data for your research efforts.
Please note that you will be prompted to provide your user name and password to access the 'arthurhou' data archive, STORM and our 'jsimpson' GPM NRT data archive. Use your registered email address as BOTH your User Name and as your Password.
Effective as of Tuesday January 19, 2021 PPS will transition from FTP access to FTPS access (main method) and HTTPS access (secondary method) for data transfer from the PPS's 'arthurhou' GPM Production data server. PPS's 'jsimpson' NRT server has already converted to FTPS and HTTPS access as of June 18, 2020.
Elimination of the less secure 'ftp' protocol is mandated by NASA/ GSFC security policy. Please note that 'arthurhou' will only support FTPS and HTTPS data transfers after the January 2021 date indicated above.
Registered users can also easily order GPM data using our online data ordering interface STORM and then using provided scripts for FTPS data transfer.
Details of how to access PPS FTPS and HTTPS services can be found under the heading of "Downloading PPS Production and Realtime Data" on our GPM Documents page . Two good summary documents are referenced below:
-Primary/ high availability Access to GPM Production data using FTPS
-Secondary access to GPM Production data using an HTTPS access service
If you have provided information to PPS/TSDIS in the past (i.e: If you are a PPS science user, development partner, etc.) your email may already have been registered and you do not have to provide any further information if you have remained an active user. Note: Users who have not used their accounts for the last 12 months will have to re-register. For example; if you are a registered and active PPS science user, TSDIS science user, already had an ftp and STORM account, or have a developer's account on one of our servers, just enter your email address registered as BOTH your User Name and Password as in the example when prompted after going to:
https://arthurhouhttps.pps.eosdis.nasa.gov/

Warning : There is
known compatibility issue with the Mac OSX Safari web browser and how it may not resolve some login challanges on our arthurhou and other ftp servers such as PPS's GPM NRT server jsimpson. PPS web development and system programming staff currently recommend that Mac OS users use Mozilla's Firefox web browser or the Google Chrome web browser for full compatibility when visiting these sites via a web browser on a Mac OS system. PPS will continue to investigate this issue.
If you have any questions about this process or other questions about obtaining PPS data, please email the PPS Helpdesk at:
