To schedule an appointment for consular services including passport renewal, please visit our appointment website.
Passport services are not available on weekends or on Slovak or U.S. holidays. One appointment is sufficient for an entire family.
If your passport expires soon or has already expired, the Embassy recommends that you apply for a new passport as soon as possible. While processing time for applications received at the U.S. Embassy Bratislava is significantly shorter than in the U.S., we cannot guarantee the time in which your passport will be returned. It is important to plan accordingly prior to travel. Additionally, all U.S. citizens traveling or living abroad should have valid proof of citizenship.
At U.S. Embassy Bratislava we aim to be open and accessible to all visitors. If you require additional assistance or accessibility accommodations when attending your appointment, please email us at BratislavaACS@state.gov with details of your needs. We strive to respond to all email inquiries within 48 business hours.
Please check all the information regarding your particular appointment to ensure that you are bringing all of the documentation required.
We only accept payments through Pay.Gov for all passport services. Please remember to email a copy of your payment confirmation page to BratislavaACS@state.gov. Unfortunately, we no longer accept cash or credit card payment for these services at the Embassy.
All new passports are returned to applicants by mail. Please bring one unsealed envelope to your appointment for an insured letter (Obálka na POISTENÝ LIST) and postal stamps in the value of 3.90 EUR which can be obtained at post offices in Slovakia.
U.S. Embassy Bratislava prohibits the attachment of tracking devices to passports and accompanying documentation for passport applications. If any passport or documentation is found to have a tracker attached, it will be removed, and the device will not be returned. Your cooperation on this matter is greatly appreciated.
All of your personal belongings will be screened upon entry in the U.S. Embassy.
You may bring your cell phone, other electronic devices such as chargers, laptops, smart watches, smart glasses, and tablets will be stored at the reception.
Large bags/suitcases (above cabin baggage size) cannot be admitted to the Embassy and should not be brought to your appointment. Other prohibited items include weapons, sharp objects, and liquids. Prohibited items cannot be stored at the Embassy so leave them at home or store them securely before you arrive.

Only those with an appointment will be admitted to the Embassy. Young children accompanying the person with an appointment can also come in, as can the parents or guardian of a minor who has an appointment.
If you are ill or potentially have a contagious illness, please cancel your appointment or let us know by emailing BratislavaACS@state.gov. You can book a new appointment through the appointment calendar once your health has recovered. If you are applying for an emergency service that cannot wait, please contact us so we can consider alternative arrangements.
