Broadband Infrastructure

The application portal opened at 9:00 am CST on June 15, 2023, and closed at 5:00 PM CST on August 17, 2023. Applications have now been reviewed, and preliminary determinations and a map of proposed projects can be viewed at https://www.broadbandms.com/comment/cpf. Please see the spreadsheet at the bottom of this section for a full list of awards.

The application portal for Round 2 opened at 9:00 am CST on August 1, 2024, and closed on September 4, 2024, at 5:00 pm CST. Preliminary determinations have now been made for round 2. A map and list of proposed project can be viewed at https://broadbandms.com/comment/cpf-round-2. BEAM accepted comments and objections on these awards from November 22 - December 23, 2024. All comments and objections were investigated as appropriate. Please see the spreadsheet at the bottom of this section for the full list of awards.

Community Wi-Fi Program

CPF Public Wi-Fi projects provide connectivity in public areas and do not affect the service level of individual broadband serviceable locations. Funding has been applied for and distributed in several rounds over the last two years. Below is a breakdown of applications and determinations by round of funding.

Round 6: BEAM took applications for a sixth round of Community Wi-Fi awards from July 6 - July 20, 2026. An application guide and project budget template for rounds 4, 5 & 6 are below. Please note that progress on the online application portal cannot be saved. Once you begin your application, you must be prepared to complete it and submit in one session. The application guide includes a full list of questions and required documents so applicants can gather materials in advance.

*Please note that BEAM does not currently have funding available for all projects listed. BEAM will make final determinations as funding becomes available.

Round 7: BEAM will take applications for round 7 of Community Wi-Fi awards from July 28 - August 11, 2026. Providers interested in applying may do so HERE.

Round 6: BEAM took applications for a sixth round of Community Wi-Fi awards from July 6 - 20, 2026. On July 28, 2026, BEAM made preliminary determinations for round 6 applications, and will accept comments and objections until August 26, 2026. All comments and objections must be submitted in writing to mscpf@beam.ms.gov. 

Round 5: BEAM took applications for a fifth round of Community Wi-Fi awards from June 16 - July 1, 2026. On July 6, 2026, BEAM made preliminary determinations round 5 of applications. BEAM will accept comments and objections until August 4, 2026. All comments and objections must be submitted in writing to mscpf@beam.ms.gov. 

Round 4: BEAM took applications for a fourth round of Community Wi-Fi awards from January 16 - January 30, 2026. On March 5, 2026, BEAM made an additional preliminary determination of CPF Public Wi-Fi projects for round 4 of applications. BEAM will accepted comments and objections until April 6, 2026. All comments and objections were submitted in writing to mscpf@beam.ms.gov. 

Round 3: BEAM opened applications for a third round of funding for Public Wi-Fi from June 27th - July 11, 2025. Comments and objections on the majority of these preliminary determinations was held from August 1 - September 1, 2025. A table of awarded determinations is below.

On December 18, 2025, BEAM made an additional preliminary determination of a CPF Public Wi-Fi project for round 3 of applications. BEAM accepted comments and objections on this preliminary award until January 16, 2026. Details of the award are below.

Round 2: A second round of funding for Public Wi-Fi grants was open from September 23, 2024, to October 7, 2024.  To view preliminary determinations for Round 2, click here. Comments or objections were accepted from November 1 - December 1, 2024 via the portal at www.broadbandms.com. 

Round 1:  For transparency purposes, BEAM accepted comments and objections on preliminary determinations for Round 1 from September 20, 2024, to October 21, 2024. To view the preliminary determinations of Round 1, click here. The first round of funding applications for Public Wi-Fi was open from 9:00 am CT on July 22, 2024, through August 28, 2024, at 5:00 pm CT.
