July 22, 2026 - Texas Gulf Carolina Employees' Credit Union Conservatorship
The Administrator of the North Carolina Credit Union Division today placed Texas Gulf Carolina Employees' Credit Union, Aurora, North Carolina into conservatorship and appointed the North Carolina Credit Union Division Examination Manager, Brian Edwards, as the conservator.
Deposits at Texas Gulf Carolina Employees' Credit Union remain protected by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund. Administered by National Credit Union Association, the Share Insurance Fund insures deposit accounts up to $250,000. The Share Insurance Fund has the backing of the full faith and credit of the United States.
TGCECU remains open and current members may continue to deposit into and withdraw from their share accounts, make loan payments, and adjust payroll deductions. However, lending and new member enrollments are suspended while the credit union is in conservatorship. Effective July 23, 2026, TGCECU will be open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 2pm.
Texas Gulf Carolina Employees' Credit Union is a federally insured, state-chartered credit union with 385 members and $1.1 million in assets, according the the credit union's most recent Call Report. Chartered in 1968, Texas Gulf Carolina Employees' Credit Union serves those persons who are current or former employees of Nutrien, from the north Carolina location (formerly known as TexasGulf; PCS Phosphate Company, Inc; Texasgulf Inc.: Texas Gulf, Inc., and Texas Gulf Sulfur Company) and immediate family members.
