Dan Nicholas Park is a great destination for your field trip! Our park is full of fun and educational activities for all ages.
Field trips and other group trips must be scheduled by calling 704-216-7803. If you get our voicemail, please leave a message with your name and phone number and someone will return your call as soon as possible. Please do not use the online reservation system to schedule a shelter. Our staff will handle all accommodations for you to make your field trip as smooth as possible!

Please be on time. If you are late, programs may have to be shortened or rescheduled, which is unfair to students.
If attending a Nature Center educational program, we suggest visiting the Reptile & Aquarium after the program.
Pregnant women, persons with compromised immune systems, and those under age 5 are advised not to touch animals.
All participants who have touched the animals are encouraged to use hand sanitizer provided after the program.
Facilities
We have a limit of 65 seats for Nature Center and Gem Mine programs. Adults may wait outside during the programs.
Large restroom facilities are available adjacent to the Nature Center buildings.
Please allow at least 5 minutes to walk from the bus parking area to the auditorium.
Please allow extra time for walking to different activities. You may find the Park Map helpful in planning your route.
Buses and large vehicles are welcome to park at the playground parking lot. You'll find this lot by taking the first right once you're inside the park.
Rules
No food or drink is allowed inside buildings.
Students should be informed prior to arriving that they must follow instructions of program staff for their safety and for the safety of our animals.
Wet clothing is not allowed in buildings.
Programs should be scheduled at least two weeks in advance.
Please notify us if you are canceling your program within 72 hours of your scheduled visit. This allows us to plan accordingly for staffing and other scheduling needs.
