Key Points:

  • Rainfall so far this summer is averaging below normal across much of Wisconsin. There have been a few pockets of heavier rain across the Fox Valley due to recent thunderstorm activity. 

  • Severe Drought (D2) has returned to the southwest third of Vilas County and the northern third of Oneida counties.

  • The remainder of the area has been classified in Abnormally Dry (D0) or Moderate Drought (D1) conditions. 

Discussion:

Outside portions of northeast WI (Fox Valley rainfall has been below normal this summer, resulting in worsening drought conditions. Some locations over central and north-central WI saw 50-75% of normal rainfall during July.,
