Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop later this afternoon impacting most of northern and central Arkansas. The main hazards within any storm that manages to become severe will be damaging wind gusts and large hail.
Chances for some scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast today as an upper-level disturbance drops south into the state. Chances for showers and thunderstorms will continue for Saturday as well, but coverage may be more isolated in nature. The threat for seeing severe weather either day will remain low. However, an isolated strong to severe thunderstorm may be seen each afternoon/early evening. Damaging winds, large hail, and locally heavy rainfall are the main threats with the strongest activity.
Forecast temperatures will be in the upper 80s to around 100 this Friday afternoon. Lows tonight into Saturday morning will be in the upper 60s to mid 70s.
Widespread rainfall has been lacking across a good portion of the state lately, as such, the wildfire danger has increased from low to moderate. Burn bans have popped up for a couple counties across portions of the state.
