Extreme Heat Continues; Severe Thunderstorms into Upper Midwest; Strong Bering Sea Storm

Wildfires and poor air quality continue for the Pacific Northwest, Rockies and extended into the Plains. Severe thunderstorms possible for the northern Plains and upper Midwest on Monday along a frontal boundary. Another boundary will focus showers and thunderstorms for the eastern seaboard with localized heavy rainfall possible. For Alaska, a strong Bering Sea storm will bring winds and rainfall. Above-normal temperatures continue reaching dangerous levels through at least Sunday. Daily and monthly temperature records will be challenged.

With dangerous and potentially record breaking temperatures across the region for the next few days, we figured we would take a moment to review some heat wave do's and don'ts to help you beat the heat.

Extreme Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories remain in effect across the Mojave Desert and Southern Great Basin as temperatures continue to run around 5 to 10°F hotter than normal.

The July Review is in! This July was the 3th warmest July on record, with an average temperature of 96.6°F. The hottest temperature of the month was 114 degrees and only a trace of rain fell.
