Overview
The U.S. Department of State offers the following programs to the people of Hong Kong and Macau to participate in cultural, educational, or professional exchanges with people of the United States.
International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP)
International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is one of the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange programs. Through short-term visits to the United States, emerging leaders in various sectors in Hong Kong and Macau may experience the United States firsthand and cultivate lasting relationships with their American and global counterparts. Participants are nominated annually by the U.S. Consulate.
Study of the U.S. Institutes for Secondary Educators (SUSI)
Study of the United States Institutes (SUSIs) offer Hong Kong and Macau secondary school educators the opportunity to participate in five-week exchanges in the United States to gain a deeper understanding of U.S. institutions and culture. SUSIs provide an intensive academic residency, an educational study tour, and opportunities to engage with American peers.

Professional Fellows Program (PFP)
Professional Fellows Program (PFP) is a two-way capacity building exchange for emerging leaders of NGOs to gain a hands-on understanding of the American nonprofit sector. PFP program activities include a four-week professional placement at a relevant host organization in the United States and the global Professional Fellows Congress for connecting with global NGO leaders. PFP is administered by the National Committee of U.S.-China Relations (NCUSCR).
Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE)
Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) gives enterprising Hong Kong women the knowledge, networks and access they need to launch and scale successful businesses.
OneBeat
OneBeat is a month-long U.S.-based music exchange residency that brings together musicians from around the world to collaboratively compose, produce, perform, and develop strategies to promote social engagement through music. Participants then tour a region of the United States to perform for American audiences, collaborate with local musicians, and lead workshops with community organizers. Application procedures are available on the OneBeat website.
Sports Visitor Program
Sport Visitor Program brings international youth athletes and their coaches from around the world to the United States and takes American youth athletes and their coaches from the United States to locations abroad for sports-based exchanges. Activities typically include sports training and workshops, cultural activities, and visits to U.S. universities. The U.S. Consulate welcomes collaborative program partners.
Global Sports Mentoring Program (GSMP)
Global Sports Mentoring Program (GSMP). The power of mentorship in the world of sports cannot be underestimated. Every team has a captain. Every captain has a coach. Leaders in sports can positively influence athletes to achieve their goals all of the way from the field to the boardroom.
