From the United States (301) 985-8840, regular toll changes apply. Emergencies include death, arrest, kidnapping, missing persons, child abduction, medical emergencies, victims of crime, and lost or stolen passports with an imminent scheduled travel.

Consular Services

  • Please note that you will need an appointment for most of Consular Services. We will not accept appointments more than 15 minutes before or 15 minutes after the scheduled appointment time.
  • Appointments are required for most Consular Services including Passports, Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA), Follow-up appointments. For Notarial Services, no appointment is needed, and notarial services will be on a walk-in basis Monday thru Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • When scheduling an appointment for Consular Services for Passports, Consular Reports of Birth Abroad, Follow-up appointments, each applicant needs their own appointment. To schedule an appointment, please click here.
  • The American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit does not handle Visas, Immigration information requests, or Salvadoran passports and National Identity Card (DUI) inquiries.
  • The American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit in the Consular Section is open every business day from 7:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. with the exception of U.S. and Salvadoran holidays and the first Thursday of each month as an Administrative Closure.
  • The American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit does not handle visa inquiries or any other immigration benefit. For visa questions (Immigrant and Non-Immigrant) you may visit the Visa Services Page.
