Dimas Jaen
ILEA San Salvador Director

Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) Dimas Jaen has served as the Director of ILEA San Salvador since July 2021.

Prior to ILEA San Salvador, SSA Jaen served as the Senior Special Assistant to the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary and Director of the Diplomatic Security Service. He joined the foreign service as a Special Agent in 2001.

Dimas began his career with Diplomatic Security at the New York Field Office, where he conducted criminal investigations, protection for foreign dignitaries, and served multiple temporary duty assignments on Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s security detail in Kabul, Afghanistan.  Dimas went on to numerous overseas tours, including Amman, Guatemala City, Tallil (Iraq), Baghdad, and Copenhagen. He returned to domestic duty serving as an Assistant Special Agent in Charge at the New York and Los Angeles Field Offices from 2013 to 2019. In 2019 and 2020, he served as the Regional Security Coordination Officer assigned to the Syria Transition Assistance Response Team – Forward, a civilian humanitarian assistance and stabilization mission embedded with a joint special operations task force in northeast Syria, and on the executive staff of the Regional Security Office at U.S. Embassy Baghdad, Iraq.

Dimas A. Jaen is a native of the New York metropolitan area.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 1999 and began his career in law enforcement as a New York City Investigator that same year. He is a recipient of numerous performance awards, including four Superior Honor Awards, eight Meritorious Honor Awards, and a Franklin Award.
