ANNOUNCEMENT

As of February 1st 2024, the U.S. Embassy Montevideo will accept online fee payments for U.S. passport book and card renewal applications.

U.S. citizens must have a valid passport to travel from Uruguay to the United States.

It is obligatory to bring copies of all required documentation for your passport application including parents’ passports/ID’s if applicable. If you don’t have the copies at your appointment, you will be asked to leave the Embassy to obtain copies and return before we can process your application.

You may bring someone else with you to your appointment (examples: attorney, an interpreter, or a family member).  The individual will be subject to standard procedures and screening.
