ANNOUNCEMENT

Beginning April 1, 2024, U.S. Embassy Montevideo will only accept online applications for Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA).

The American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit of U.S. Embassy, Montevideo provides a wide range of services to U.S. citizens visiting or residing in Uruguay. The ACS Unit issues passports, registers U.S. citizens born in Uruguay, performs notary services, and provides assistance to U.S. citizens arrested in Uruguay and to the families of Americans who pass away while visiting or residing in Uruguay.

If you are planning on traveling to Uruguay, make sure to first review the updated Country Specific Information at the Department of State’s Website and register your travel via the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).

Electronically Scheduled Appointment System
The ACS Unit provides services by appointment only, scheduled electronically, except in Cases of Emergency.
