Degree/Coursework Requirements & Appropriately Accredited Institutions

  • In order to receive educational credit for positions with this requirement, degrees/coursework must be from an appropriately accredited institution as required by the State. The County defers to the expertise of the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) to determine appropriate accrediting bodies. CHEA recognizes the following list of acceptable accrediting bodies (PDF). If you unsure if the college you went to is appropriately accredited, you may search for your institution on the CHEA website.
  • Applicants who have obtained their degree/coursework outside of the United States and its territories must have their degree/coursework evaluated by a evaluation service who is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Please visit the website for a list of members.
