Project WET is an environmental education program designed for teachers and other educators working with youth from K-8th grade. Project WET uses water resources as tool to introduce students to multi-disciplinary activities that are aligned to state and national standards. 

This workshop qualifies as Criteria 1 for NC Environmental Education Certification.

Geology in NC: An Earth Science Workshop

October 19, 2026 9 am - 3:30 pm

Geology in NC is a FREE workshop sponsored by Vulcan Materials Company in partnership with Rowan Soil and Water Conservation District, the NC Geological Survey, and Historic Gold Hill. Teachers will tour Vulcan's Quarry and learn about the many uses of mined materials. They will learn about North Carolina's geological history and the discovery of gold in our region. They will also take away some free materials and hands-on activities to use in their classes.
