Significant heat arrives Wednesday across northeast California and western Nevada. A Heat Advisory is in effect from 8 AM Wednesday through 8 AM Thursday, with highs of 95–104°F and an increased risk of heat-related illness for those sensitive to heat.

Prolonged heat is expected Thursday through Saturday across northeast California and western Nevada. An Extreme Heat Watch is in effect through Sunday morning, with highs of 95–106°F. The greatest potential for dangerous heat and limited overnight relief will be across the western Nevada Basin and Range and Mineral and southern Lyon counties.

Hot temperatures are here to stay! This upcoming week will be consistently hot each afternoon with temps reaching 103 degrees in lower valleys. Take breaks in the shade and stay hydrated this week!

A hot and very dry week lies ahead, with moderate to areas of major HeatRisk from midweek into the weekend. Monday and Tuesday will likely see smoke and haze from PacNW wildfires spread southward towards the I-80 corridor. Shower and thunderstorm chances increase next weekend across Mono and Mineral counties.
