For Kids Only
Kids can play a big part in making our planet better than before when it comes to climate change. The New York State Department of Transportation knows the future belongs to those who connect with their communities to protect all of us and our water, our land, our air, our plants and our wildlife. Check out our Better Than Before videos to see what weâre doing:
Here are some easy ways for kids and their families to help their environment:
- Plant a tree.
- Bike or walk wherever you can instead of riding in a car.
- Turn off your computers, televisions and other electronic gear when youâre not using them and unplug all those chargers when youâre done with them, too.
- When you leave a room, turn off the lights and use energy-efficient fluorescent bulbs.
- On cold days, dress warmly inside instead of turning up the heat; on warm days, dress lightly instead of turning up the air conditioning, close curtains and blinds and use a fan where possible.
- Take shorter showers and baths and only run washing machines and dishwashers when you have full loads. Heating water uses energy.
