System Safety Management
The safety risk management process is applied to all investments that have an impact on the National Airspace System.
What Must be Done
Identify and classify safety hazards, adopt mitigation measures to reduce risk to an acceptable level, verify mitigation measures are incorporated into product design, and assess residual risk.
Who Does It
Service organizations or program offices plan and implement the safety management program with assistance from the ATO Office of Safety & Technical Training.
Who Approves
Safety Risk Management Guidance for System Acquisitions specifies approval requirements for specific safety management products.
